Getting a Greencard

Yesterday Eddie got his second and final shot for the MMR vax that is required for his green card application. Its been a long road getting ready to submit the paperwork.

A senior missionary (Elder Ballard) serving in our ward in England gave us the phone number of a place in Las Vegas that does travel vaccinations. So Eddie called to set up an appointment. The first time he called he found out that the office was open 24 hours and he didn't need an appointment. He told me and I thought, "Thats kinda weird. Why would an office that only does vaccinations be open 24 hours? Oh well, this is Vegas, I guess it makes sense!" Eddie called again to try to find out their location and if he really didn't need an appointment. The person on the other end of the phone couldn't understand him. He called one more time and this time there was too much background noise in the office, and he couldn't hear the person that answered. After 3 calls, and very little information, he was fed up and told me it was up to me to make his appointment!

So I called and this was the conversation I had with the vaccination office.
Him "Hello?"
Me "Hi, I'm calling because my husband needs to come get some shots?"
Him "Ok"
Me "When are you open?"
Him "24 hours, we serve shots all day"
Me "Does he need to make an appointment?"
Him "No he doesn't need to make an appointment!"
Me "Do you do the MMR vaccine?"
Him "The what?"
Me "The measles mumps and rubella shot?"
Him "I don't know what you're talking about."
Me "Who am I calling?"
Him "Such and such bar."
Me "OOOOHHH! I thought I was calling a vaccination office! Sorry! My husband has called like 3 times and we couldn't figure out what was going on!"

We'll be sending in the paperwork sometime next week. We should know our green card interview date within 90 days. If you could all remember us and our application in your prayers we'd really appreciate it!

Bridget and Ben gave us this coffee table, and I'm pretty sure Andrew likes it! Unfortunately I wasn't fast enough to get a picture of him kissing it earlier.

Husband for Rent.

I'm willing to rent out my husband. He's great at packing, moving, removing nails, filling and painting the holes the nails made, loading cars/trucks/vans etc, and organizing. He likes to unpack too! The going rate is $15 an hour. Some satisfied customers are Bridget and Ben and Michelle and Ryan. He is only available for the stated skills, no others will be provided!

We spent the last few days helping the Reeds pack, move, store, sell, and give away their stuff! Andrew and Paige "played." Andrew pretty much tried to keep Paige from climbing on him, patting his head, and hugging him. They had a great time sliding on the folding table that was acting as the baby gate. And Mae even came over to regulate the "playing." Hopefully Bridget will get around to uploading the video we shot!

Bad Mommy Moments

Andrew isn't the best eater, especially when he's in his chair. He'd prefer to have the food on a flat surface that he could reach, and he'd just graze all day.

Fortunately breakfast time coincides with Sesame Street! When Sesame Street is on, he doesn't even pay attention to what he's putting in his mouth, he's so engaged in what is going on. Today we learned about apologies and we watched the Worm Cup, where one of the worms got thrown out for head butting another worm (so funny!). Todays episode was sponsored by the letter "k" and the number "19"

A Prophets Funeral

Today I am so thankful for the internet! I was able to watch President Hinckley's funeral, and as far as funerals go, it was awesome! If you weren't able to watch it, you can go to here to see what you missed. It was so uplifting, and the spirit was so strong! I'm grateful that he was prophet during my lifetime. I've been blessed by his leadership, as has the rest of the world. I'm grateful for the knowledge that he shared with all of us, and for the knowledge I have of the Church, especially what I know about eternal families! I plan on participating in The Hinckley Challenge, and I hope you will all join me!

Exam Time

I took Eddie to the dentist this morning. He needed me to translate for him. Luckily our dentist is Caroline Pollock Carruth, so as soon as I got him past the front desk, my services were less important!

It turns out that we both need quite a bit of work done. Which isn't surprising considering that I always need work done, and Eddie has only ever been to one proper (as in, American) dentist, and only had one proper cleaning! He's lucky he has any teeth! So Caroline is doing us a favor by letting us be her VIPS, this way we only pay $20 a visit, no matter what the procedure is! And we're doing her a favor as well, not only does she get to practice on us, but we are also going to be some of her board patients!
