An Update on Everything I Can Think Of.

We still don't have internet at home, we've been waiting and waiting to get it, because we've been waiting to get evicted!
Well, it turns out we won't be getting evicted til after the baby is born, 90 days after they send us another eviction notice.
Oh yeah, you probably don't know this, but the house we've been renting, was foreclosed on. Which wasn't all the horrible of news. We've been living rent free for a couple of months and we get to keep living rent free for a few more, so its been pretty good for us!

Andrew turned 3 a couple of months ago, he talks a lot, and has recently started eating more foods, yesterday he ate about 2/3 of a hamburger, which is serious progress. We are happy that he's moving on from toast and pancakes! Andrew is really excited about Christmas, he misses Honey and Papa, and he even opened one of his presents early (not because he was allowed to), clothes, which he described as "my favorite!" Andrew is not excited about having a baby sister. He's recently become very possessive. He's always telling other children that I'm his mom, and not theirs. Sometimes he gets a little aggressive when he's trying to prove his point.

We're having a girl, still unnamed, sometime after February 12. I spent the last 10 weeks on modified bedrest, but I'm off it now! YAY! It was boring, and I'm so glad I'm done! Now I just have to take a drug that makes me feel really weird, but keeps me from going into preterm labor.

We Don't Have Internet

We cancelled our internet to our home computer and have been getting bye by using our iphones, but I haven't been able to blog, well haven't had the desire to blog on a tiny screen. So thats why there have been no new posts. I don't know if/when we'll get the net, we seem to be getting along just fine with out it and the $70 bill!

The Big 3

Andrew's Third Birthday was on Saturday. We had a great day, he really enjoys the set of power tools we gave him, he's been playing with them non-stop.

River Rats

We either forget to take our camera on vacation, or we just don't take a lot of pictures. There are 4 pictures of me from our long river weekend, and no pictures of Eddie or me skiing. And for some reason a bunch of them are blurry. Oh well, we had a good time, like we always do!

Learning Spanish from Handy Manny

In the four years that I took Spanish, I didn't learn how to say "butterfly."

Handy Manny taught me today that butterfly is mariposa. Awesome. I love all the Spanglish tv shows.

Not.

For Eddies Birthday

We went to SoCal for Eddies 27th birthday. We got to hang out with some of our favorite people. We went to the beach where Eddie got a "Pickup Signature" sunburn. We went to play at Wild Rivers with the Emmetts. Andrew and Jack had a great time being brave together. We went to watch Burnley play the Ventura County Fusion, which was really exciting because Burnley won 5-0.

iphone river pictures

I forgot to take my camera to the river, so we until Amber got there with hers, we were only able to get some shots with my iphone.

The first morning we were there, Andrew slept til 7:30, which unfortunately qualifies as sleeping in.
Andrew didn't like the wind in his face.
We heard a lot of, "papas boat, papas boat"

Anna tried to swing on the awning fabric.

Sticker time!

By the end of the week Andrew was asking to go on rides, "me ride papas boat?"

Sunscreen Wars

He screams when I put sunscreen on him, and I scream when he does this!

It's June!

And you know what happens in June?

We get to go to the river! YAY! I'm so excited to go next week I can barely contain my excitement! We've all got new suits, a couple of weeks ago Smiths had a buy one get one sale on sunscreen (I got 4 tubes, but I should have bought more), and we've been swimming pretty regularly and getting our skin ready to soak up a weeks worth of sun! YES its river time.

Word Explosion!

Two Sundays ago Eddie and I counted how many words Andrew says. We thought probably around 70. He spoke in sentences, mostly gibberish with one or two words thrown in. He really was trying so hard, but in a room with Maggie, Paige, and Anna (who are all younger than him)...

Last week when Amber told Maggie that she was coming over to our house to play with Andrew, Maggie replied, "Andrew, he not talk much to me."
Amber told her, "well, he doesn't talk much at all."
Maggie replied, "uh uh, he can say duck"

But over the last week his verbal skills have exploded. He's now using too many words for me to count and keep track of. He rarely reverts to using gibberish (although he's still hard to understand most of the time), he's using more than 3 words in a sentence, he talked nonstop during Sacrament meeting, and if he says something that really sounds like the "f"word, he's not swearing at you, he's either saying flag or foot, we can't figure out which.

Unflattering Picture Tag

My totally awesome sister tagged me, and since its so easy and flattering to comply, I went ahead and did it!

I'm recreating a face that Andrew makes frequently, usually because he doesn't like something or doesn't want to do something. One time I got this face when I got into the car, he didn't want me to go on the family outing and was disappointed that he didn't get to go alone with daddy. This is also the same face that Noelle made in her unflattering picture on her blog.

Here are the rules, and I tag Marci, Jaime, and Kaili ( I don't even know if Kaili reads my blog, but oh well!)
-take a picture of yourself right now, no primping or preparing. just snap the picture.
-load onto your blog.
-tag 3 people to play… remember if you are tagged on another blog we will all be heading to yours to see if you played along.

Driving In Las Vegas

I've lived and driven in a lot of places, and my car has 111,000 miles on the odometer to prove it, and I've come to realize Las Vegas drivers are some of the worst in the developed world. They aren't quite as bad as the drivers I encountered in Africa, I mean we have laws here those things seem to make a big difference, but sometimes I'm still shocked. On more than one occasion I've pulled over to get out of the way of some crazy idiot who was trying to run me off the road. I honk at a dangerous moron everyday. About 40% of drivers in LV can't negotiate a 4 way stop correctly, and it seems like even more can't figure out the correct way to navigate thru a round about. The road rage is becoming exhausting, but you want to know what really got my goat today?

Emergency Vehicles
and the people who didn't pull to the side of the road. We were driving down grand canyon and an engine and ambulance were coming towards us with their lights on. There was no center divider so I pulled over to the side of that very wide road. There were quite a few cars that passed me, and there was quite a line behind the emergency vehicles. The engine and ambulance pulled over to make a u-turn, and all of the cars in the line behind them went past. I don't know why I'm still so shocked by drivers in this city, I mean I've heard ads on the radio about being more careful while driving, because more locals are in fatal accidents with locals than with tourists.

If I see flashing lights or hear a siren I pull over. Maybe its cause my dad is a firefighter, maybe its because I've been in and had loved ones in the back of an ambulance, maybe its because I have a high level of regard for our Police and Fire Departments, maybe its cause of all the car accidents we used to go check out at the corner where Marcy's Candy Shop was, maybe its cause I once hear a firefighter reprimand a driver over the bull horn. He said, "idiot in the Honda, hang up your phone."

Maybe its cause I hope that if emergency services are ever on their way to my house, people will get out of the way!
