funny thing- it doesn't sound that bad at all to me. Whenever we had pinatas and easter egg hunts at big family parties, everyone tried to get a lot of candy, but in the end we all put our candy in the pot and it was divided out between everyone.
In this case, I can think of pleanty of kids who maybe weren't lazy, but didn't have the opportunity or circumstance or ability to go trick or treating. I'd be willing to give them some of my candy.
